The ALS Ice Bucket Awards

ALS = Ang Lamig  Syeeet!

Of course it's fun to watch celebrities, musicians, politicians, at kung sino sino pang matataas na tao na mabuhusan ng baldeng puno ng super lamig na tubig. Parang isa lang syang choo-choo trend na maraming naki-angkas dahil nga sobrang "cool" - pun intended. Pero in fairness, it made its message across - awareness sa sakit na ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Maraming naaliw sa mga ice bucket challenge videos pero I doubt if all of them know what ALS even mean. Well, isa na ako 'dun 'nung simula. Pero kaya ko nasabing effective ang awareness drive nila because it made me google about ALS. So in my own words, base lang sa pagkakaintindi ko, here's what it is:

Often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

So, sinong ALS ice bucket challenger ang nanalo ng best at worst buhos award? Well, as of this moment, sa lahat lahat ng napanood kong tumanggap ng challenge, ito ang pinaka-lamest na napanood ko.

The best ALS ice bucket award naman goes to no other than Lady Gaga. Hands down. Speechless ako after mananood 'yung video. I bet you'll watch the video more than once just to stare at her poker face - pun intended ulit.

Damn, parang wala lang. Parang Ice Queen lang sa Frozen 'di ba? The cold never bothered me anyway lang ang peg. Walang intro intro bullshit at ni walang dialogue kung sino gusto n'ya i-challenge. ANGAS.

Isang bagay lang medyo kinakatakot ko sa ALS bucket challenge na 'to. Since na challenge na si Manny Pacquiao to do it, di ba kayo kinakabahan kung sino mga inonominate n'yang mag ALS ice bucket challenge? Paano kung si... NO. Huwag entertainin ang idea. Not gonna happen (fingers crossed).
